NFL – International Games: Wiesn game in Germany? Return to Munich apparently decided

That would be awesome! Is the NFL returning to Munich anytime soon? The league itself is said to be enthusiastic about the idea, but some of the ideas being discussed are a bit strange.

The mega news about NFL games in Germany does not stop. Just a few days ago, it was announced that the American football cosmos will settle in the capital Berlin for another guest performance in 2025. But according to information from the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, Munich could also host a game again soon.

The NFL has expressed a concrete interest in returning to the Allianz Arena of record football champions FC Bayern Munich, after the Carolina Panthers defeated the New York Giants “Big Apple” franchise there in November in an overtime thriller.

The Bavarian Department of Education and Sports (RBS) is to enter into further negotiations with the NFL from next Wednesday with new powers.

Specifically, the years 2026 and 2028 are being considered, so that the two-year cycle known so far would be retained. Munich was the venue for the first NFL regular-season game on German soil, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with legendary quarterback Tom Brady, met the Seattle Seahawks in 2022.

NFL: Wiesn game in the planning?

But the American league is said to have some suggestions for adjustments regarding the International Games in Germany, including a “Wiesn game” during the Oktoberfest, which was proposed by the NFL.

This idea is said to convince neither the city nor the security authorities; a date in November is preferred. It would also be easier to convert the Allianz Arena during this period. Both sides still have to find a common denominator before the green light can be given.
