At a fan meeting in Munich, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell hinted that more than the originally planned four games could be played in Germany by 2025.
Munich – Germany is in football ecstasy in anticipation of the upcoming clash between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is also getting a picture on the ground and let it slip at a fan meeting in Munich that the NFL is considering more games in Germany.
“We plan to play at least four games here. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the number expands quickly. The current plan is to have four games by 2025. This year in Munich, next year in Frankfurt and then another game each in Munich and Frankfurt,” Goodell said.
NFL in Germany as Mexico replacement?
This season, the San Francisco 49ers will play the Arizona Cardinals in Mexico on November 21. A Mexico game is also planned for next season.
Azteca Stadium may not be available, however, as part of renovations for the 2026 World Cup.
Germany, for example, could step in and grab a fifth game.
“When I’m older, I’ll remember this place. It’s going to be great,” Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady praised ahead of the game.
