When “travelling champion” Seattle Seahawks play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Munich on 13 November, Aaron Donkor will be given a special honour. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is looking forward to the trip to Germany.
Munich – Tom Brady, the Tampa Buccaneers – and then the Seattle Seahawks: For the German football fans, the scheduling of the NFL game on 13 November at the Allianz Arena in Munich could hardly be better.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is also looking forward to his first trip to Germany. Even if it hits the 2022 team quite hard, as the Seahawks will travel a whopping 29,446 miles next season, the most of any team.
Pete Carroll: “Experience of a lifetime “
“I think it’s great,” Carroll said. “I’ve never been there before and I’m looking forward to the trip just like everyone else. For everyone here, it’s the experience of a lifetime.”
It will be a special experience especially for German linebacker Aaron Donkor, who has been part of the Seahawks since last season through the NFL’s International Pathway Program.
“As far as Aaron Donkor is concerned, it couldn’t be nicer,” Carroll said: “Obviously he’ll be carrying the flag outside at the start of the game. At least he’ll be able to translate for us, so we’re looking forward to that and we’ll try to make the most of it.”
Donkor thanked the fans in advance and for their support. “They have been very supportive,” he said. “I felt the support of the Seahawks fans here and in Germany, and I’m very happy about that.”
Donkor spent his first season in the NFL on the Seahawks’ practice squad.
