In a hard-fought game, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks in the Sunday Night Game only after overtime.
Munich – Thrilling until the end! In a dramatic game, the Pittsburgh Steelers emerged victorious in the Sunday Night Game.
Ben Roethlisberger and Co. won 23:20 (14:0) after overtime against the Seattle Seahawks, who had to do without their superstar quarterback Russell Wilson due to injury.
T.J. Watt with decisive action
“Big Ben” finished with 229 passing yards and a thrown touchdown to rookie running back Najee Harris, who once again had a strong game. The MVP of the game, however, found himself on the defensive side.
Outside linebacker T.J. Watt not only put up terrific numbers with seven tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble, his ball-winning play in overtime ultimately laid the foundation for the win.
When the Seahawks returned to the field in overtime, a field goal would have been enough for them to win. Watt, however, had other plans and forced a fumble after a quarterback run by Geno Smith. The Steelers picked up the ball at the 16-yard line and had a great chance to win. Kicker Chris Boswell stayed cool from 37 yards out and kicked the Steelers field goal to win the game.
Bitter night for Smith
Against the Seahawks, who didn’t score their first points until the third quarter, Wilson stand-in Smith put up solid numbers with 209 passing yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. In the overtime, however, he finally made the decisive loss of the ball that caused the defeat.
Back-up running back Alex Collins had a great day and ended the game with 101 rushing yards and a touchdown. In the end, he could not prevent the defeat of his team.
With the win, the Steelers improve their record to three wins and three losses, which means third place in the AFC North. The Seahawks, on the other hand, are in last place in the NFC West with two wins and four losses.
