Frank Reich appears to be set for a comeback as a coach in the NFL. The New York Jets are reportedly looking to add him to their coaching staff.

The New York Jets are apparently looking to bolster their offense with plenty of experience: According to a report by “SNYtv,” the Jets are currently working on signing Frank Reich. The 64-year-old former head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers is expected to assist the team in an as-yet-unnamed role on the coaching staff. In line with this, the Jets have parted ways with their offensive coordinator. Tanner Engstrand is no longer part of head coach Aaron Glenn’s coaching staff. This would make room for Reich. The aim of the move is to solve the ongoing problems in the offense: Last season, the Jets ranked 29th in both yards and points, well behind the rest of the league. Their passing game was the worst in the entire NFL. At least the Jets ranked tenth in rushing.

NFL: Frank Reich has already won the Super Bowl

Frank Reich can look back on a long and colorful career. The experienced coach was offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers from 2014 to 2015, and in 2016/17 he held the same position with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he won Super Bowl LII. From 2018 to 2022, Reich served as head coach of the Colts, where he worked with quarterback Andrew Luck and later with Carson Wentz and Matt Ryan. In 2023, he took over the same position with the Panthers, but was fired after a weak season.

In the 2025 season, he stepped in as interim coach at Stanford and is currently serving as senior advisor for the college program.
