Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was stabbed after an altercation with an unknown person. However, his life is not in danger.
Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has been hospitalized with stab wounds after a knife attack.
This was confirmed by the TV channel “Fox Sports,” for which Sanchez works as an expert. However, the 38-year-old is in stable condition.
According to police, the incident occurred shortly after midnight on Friday night in Indianapolis, where he was part of the Fox Sports broadcast team covering the NFL game between the Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders.
“We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask everyone to respect his and his family’s privacy during this time,“ the broadcaster said.
Sanchez played for the Jets for a long time
Indianapolis police said the incident was ”an isolated incident between two men and not a random act of violence.”
Apparently, there had been a physical altercation between Sanchez and the attacker, who also sustained injuries.
Sanchez was selected by the New York Jets as the fifth pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He was under contract with the Jets for a total of five years, missing his last season due to injury. In four years as a starter, he led the franchise to a 33-29 record, with the Jets making the playoffs in his first two seasons. After his time in New York, he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Bears, and the Washington Redskins (now the Commanders). He announced his retirement in July 2019.
