NFL: Fernando Mendoza apparently not on site at the draft in Pittsburgh

NFL celebrities united: Sam Darnold’s wedding becomes a star-studded affair

Fernando Mendoza is considered the likely No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft in just over two weeks. However, the quarterback will probably not be on site in Pittsburgh.

When Commissioner Roger Goodell announces the number 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on April 23 in Pittsburgh, the player in question will probably not be on stage.

As reported by “ESPN”, Fernando Mendoza has informed the NFL that he will not be on site at the draft. Instead, he wants to share the draft moment with his family in Miami.

It would be the first time since 2021 that the first overall pick is not present at the draft himself. Back then, Trevor Lawrence watched the action from afar.

There’s no question in anyone’s mind that Mendoza’s name will be the first to be called in Pittsburgh. The Las Vegas Raiders hold the first pick and appear to have settled on the Indiana Hoosiers’ college champion and Heisman winner weeks ago.

The 2026 draft will take place April 23-25 in Pittsburgh. The event encompasses much of the North Shore neighborhood, where the Steelers’ Acrisure Stadium is located.
