NFL Draft 2024: Quarterbacks and offense players set records

The offense players and especially the quarterbacks set a new record in this year’s NFL Draft

This has never happened before! In this year’s NFL Draft, teams selected six quarterbacks in the first twelve picks.

Caleb Williams went to the Chicago Bears as the top pick, followed by Jayden Daniels to the Washington Commanders and Drake Maye to the New England Patriots.

The Atlanta Falcons landed the big surprise with Michael Penix Jr. as the eighth pick. J.J. McCarthy went to the Minnesota Vikings at number 10, while the Denver Broncos set the record with Bo Nix and the twelfth pick overall.

There has only ever been six quarterbacks in round 1 once before. In 1983, however, the sixth pick (Dan Marino, note) only went 27th

The offense players in general set another record. 14 offensive players went to teams at the start of the draft before the Indianpolis Colts broke the streak with edge rusher Laiatu Latu.

Previously, the longest streak was seven offensive players in a row. The Carolina Panthers broke it in 2021 with cornerback Jaycee Horn.

With a total of 23 offensive talents, including seven wide receivers and eight offensive tackles, selected in the first round, the previous record of 19 offensive players in Round 1 was also broken.
