Defensive tackle Jonah Laulu makes people laugh at the 2024 NFL Draft. He thinks the Indianapolis Colts’ redemptive draft call is a joke call
One phone call can completely change a life, turn it upside down and leave its mark. That’s the feeling some of the new NFL rookies have experienced in recent days . After all, they were brought into the league with a phone call (and the draft pick that came with it).
Decisions on which the future, but also the financial security of young men hangs. The tension of the former college stars during the three days of the draft must have been correspondingly high.
This was also the case for defensive tackle Jonah Laulu. He even had to wait until the seventh round. The Indianapolis Colts snapped up the 22-year-old with the 234th pick.
Laulu could hardly believe it. So little, in fact, that he thought the call from Colts general manager Chris Ballard was a joke. “That’s not a joke call, is it?” asked Laulu.
“It’s not a joke call, I promise you!” Ballard replied, laughing. He then handed the phone to coach Shane Steichen, who welcomed his new protégé to the team.
No, @Jonah_laulu, this isn’t a prank call. 😂
