Because the wide receiver market is completely out of control in the current offseason, apparently several star receivers announce a possible practice boycott if they don’t get a new contract.
Munich – There continues to be no peace in the current offseason, which many experts are calling the craziest in NFL history.
As Adam Schefter of “ESPN” reports, several star receivers are planning a possible workout boycott should they not also be given a new marketable working paper.
Second-round picks that include WRs Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown and Terry McLaurin are not expected to participate in their teams’ on-field off-season programs because they want new contracts at a time this off-season when WR deals have exploded, per league sources.

These are primarily former 2018 second- and third-round picks Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers), A.J. Brown (Tennessee Titans) and Terry McLaurin (Washington Commanders, 3rd round). All three are entering the final year of their contracts with their teams and are eligible for contract extensions.
According to the report, that’s one reason the trio are not participating in their teams’ voluntary offseason workouts and are waiting for potential contract talks to begin. McLaurin, who is considered one of the leaders with the Commanders, is said to be present at Monday’s practice kickoff but not participating in the sessions.
Payday for wide receiver
While the 49ers, Titans and Commanders should be strongly interested in extending deals with their exceptional performers, the question will be at what price. All three are among the top contenders in the league and could command a mega-contract.
Because with Tyreek Hill (four years, $120 million) and Davante Adams (five years, $140 million), not only were the absolute top stars at the position showered with money, but average players were also massively overpaid.
Because rotation players like Christian Kirk (four years, 72 million US dollars) have also driven up the prices for receivers enormously, the teams have hardly any means to push down the price and will probably have to pay or overpay the sums demanded.
Deebo Samuel has already caused a stir in recent days when he deleted all 49ers-related posts from his social media profiles. As a result, he even received death threats from some fans, which he defended himself against.
