Daniel Jones appears to have torn his Achilles tendon without any contact from an opponent during his Indianapolis Colts’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This would end the quarterback’s season.
It happened shortly before the end of the first quarter of the NFL game in Jacksonville: With the score at 7-14, Daniel Jones ran back in the pocket to throw a pass.
Without any contact from another player, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback’s right leg buckled. The 28-year-old remained on the ground and immediately realized that he had suffered a serious injury. He took off his helmet and slammed it angrily on the ground.
Shortly thereafter, he was carried off the field by trainers.
NFL: Daniel Jones likely to be out for months
Shortly afterwards, the Colts announced that Jones had injured his Achilles tendon and would not be returning. An MRI scan will now provide certainty. If Jones has torn his Achilles tendon, he will be out for around nine months.
“It doesn’t look good,” head coach Shane Steichen said after the game.
If the MRI confirms a torn Achilles, Daniel Jones will face a 9-month recovery that puts him right up against the start of the 2026 season.
