Former NFL star Colin Kaepernick still wants to return to the pitch.
Even more than seven years after his last NFL game, quarterback Colin Kaepernick has not given up hope of a return.
“I’m still fully training. And I hope that one of the team owners will have the courage to sign me.
Probably only a few people remember the veteran’s last NFL game: on January 1, 2017 against the Seattle Seahawks, which was lost 23:25. In the aftermath of the 2016 season, Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers parted ways.
He had previously caused national controversy by taking a knee during the US anthem before games as a sign against inequality and discrimination.
Kaepernick then also became a political issue and was unable to find a new team.
Colin Kaepernick: Several trial training sessions
Over the past few years, Kaepernick has tried a variety of ways to make a comeback to the NFL.
He organized some private workouts and took part in several team trainings. However, he has not yet signed a new contract.
“Getting back on the pitch would be a great moment for me, a great achievement. You have to remember, I’ve trained my whole life for this sport,” said Kaepernick.
