NFL – Ban on Tush Push? Commissioner Roger Goodell comments

The NFL has been discussing the “Tush Push” for weeks. At the annual owners’ meeting, a decision on a ban was postponed. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also commented on the play.

The Tush Push saga continues! The annual meeting of the owners of all NFL teams was originally intended to clarify whether the play should be banned. However, the participants could not agree on a decision. Instead, another meeting will be held at the end of May.

A vote should also be taken then. At least NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has now given his first indication of his own preference.

The NFL boss commented on the play, which is used particularly frequently by the Philadelphia Eagles, at a press conference.

Tush Push: Goodell expresses safety concerns

Goodell praised the debate about the play and revealed that many open questions had been discussed. At the same time, he admitted that so far there are no real figures and data on the play.

However, Goodell indicated that he is open to a rule change. “I think that in this case, the health risk to players must also be considered. I think there is a higher risk of injury on plays where there is pushing or pulling.”

For Goodell, it is therefore also conceivable that a rule could be implemented that would prohibit any plays involving pushing or pulling.

He expects some new proposals to be put forward at the end of May.
