NFL – Antonio Brown: Former star faces up to 30 years in prison

Former NFL star Antonio Brown faces an even longer prison sentence than previously thought in his attempted murder trial.

Former NFL star Antonio Brown is on trial in Florida for attempted murder.

However, as NBC Sports now reports, the sentence for the 37-year-old could be significantly higher than previously thought.

The report, citing a source with knowledge of Florida criminal law, indicates that the special circumstances in Brown’s case could even lead to a prison sentence of up to 30 years.

Actually, the law in Florida provides for a maximum sentence of “only” 15 years for second-degree murder. However, according to the report, the key point in Brown’s case is the alleged use of a firearm.

Brown faces at least 20 years in prison

Florida has a so-called “10-20-Life” law. This states that the possible sentence for attempted second-degree murder involving the use of a firearm is increased to the sentence for attempted first-degree murder. Accordingly, the minimum sentence for this case is 20 years, and the maximum is 30 years.

However, the exact details of the crime are not yet fully known. The charges are expected to be made official on Monday. The former NFL star is accused of shooting a person during an altercation at a boxing event in May 2025. “AB” claims he acted in self-defense.

Brown initially left the US after the arrest warrant was issued, but the former star receiver was recently arrested in Dubai and returned to his home country, where the trial against him is now set to begin.

Brown initially pleaded not guilty and was placed under house arrest until the start of the trial.
