The NFL’s 5th matchday begins with an overtime thriller between the Falcons and the Buccaneers. A game that typifies the season so far: never before have there been so many close results at this point in the season.
The current NFL season is the most exciting in the league’s 105-year history.
At least so far. At least if you just look at the results.
The Atlanta Falcons’ 36-30 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (see highlights) was already the 40th game (out of 65 played so far) that was decided by a single score, in which a maximum of eight points separated the two teams.
In 39 games, only seven points separated the teams, and in 33, only six – both also a season-high at the time.
Three games were decided by a single point.
Buccaneers at Falcons was also the third game in which overtime had to produce a winner.
