Ron Rivera is fined by the NFL and the Washington Commanders will lose two days of practice next season. According to the NFL, the head coach violated the rules during “Organized Team Activities” (OTAs).
Munich – Things are not really getting quiet around the Washington Commanders. Head coach Ron Rivera was fined almost 100,000 US dollars by the NFL – because he let practice with too much contact in a prohibited manner. This was reported by Dan Graziano of “ESPN”.
Mike McCarthy of the Dallas Cowboys already received the same fine. In addition, the Commanders will lose two of their practices in the upcoming seasons as part of the “Organised Team Activities” (OTAs).
After reviewing some practice videos, the NFL informed Washington’s general manager Martin Mayhew of the penalties via letter. There was “no question” that the team wanted to gain an advantage through the practices. The Commanders themselves did not initially comment.
Rivera after training: “Impart certain discipline “
Wide receiver Diyami Brown reportedly even injured his shoulder after a collision in practice. Rivera said afterwards, “We just have to be careful and work with each other. We don’t want anybody to get hurt. I try to instill some discipline in the guys. “
During OTA workouts, franchises are allowed to practice drills and recreate game situations, but must refrain from hard physical hits.
