NBA meets NFL? Magic Johnson may want to buy the Denver Broncos

Earvin “Magic” Johnson is already part owner of a baseball and a basketball team. Now the NBA legend appears to be interested in the NFL’s Denver Broncos as well.

Munich – Basketball icon Earvin “Magic” Johnson could join the NFL as a team owner.

The 62-year-old is already a co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers in MLB (baseball) and the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA (women’s basketball).

According to “Sportico”, Johnson has now teamed up with Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Josh Harris to bid for the Denver Broncos. The Bowlen family, which has owned the Broncos for 38 years, put the team up for sale earlier this offseason.

Sale value could exceed four billion dollars

It won’t be cheap: Last August, the business magazine “Forbes” valued the Broncos at 3.75 billion US dollars. According to media reports, it is assumed that the franchise could be sold for more than four billion US dollars.

“Selling an NFL team is a complex process involving numerous parties and league approval processes,” Broncos president and CEO Joe Ellis said in a statement earlier this offseason.

And continued, “Nevertheless, the trustees hope to have the sale completed by the start of the 2022 NFL season. The Broncos are a special franchise that is a part of this region. Whoever emerges as the new owner will certainly understand what the team means with our great fans and this community.”

The Broncos have already had an eventful offseason. They signed a new head coach in Nathaniel Hackett, who was previously the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers. The signing of quarterback Russell Wilson was also one of the most spectacular trades.
