NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki talks about the future of his children and rules out a sport for his offspring. In addition, the man from Würzburg reports on taunts.
Munich – Clear words from Dirk Nowitzki regarding the sporting future of his children.
He would support his young children later on if they wanted to pursue a professional career, he said during an interview with the “Passauer Neue Presse”. However, Nowitzki would veto one sport: “American football is too rough for me.”
Previously, he had stated regarding the upbringing of his offspring: “I want to be there for the children, influence them and raise good people.” He himself had been teased in his youth, he said. “It was not an easy time, but you try to get through,” says the Würzburg native.
The teasing also “drove him a bit to basketball”, where he could be among his peers. Nowitzki says he was a “splinter” as a teenager – classmates would have called him “Skeletor” because his bones stuck out so much.
