Kirk Cousins’ contract with the Vikings expires in the spring. Vikings owner Mark Wilf would not answer the question of whether the quarterback would get an extension after the season.

In 2018, Kirk Cousins signed a three-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent, and he has since extended two more times. Now the 34-year-old is facing his final year under contract.

As “ESPN” reports, Vikings owner Mark Wilf would not answer questions about a new contract extension. “We’ll leave that decision up to [general manager] Kwesi and coach [Kevin O’Connell]. Our focus is 100 per cent on 2023 and getting to where we need to be.”

Despite statistically eye-popping numbers – in five years with the Vikings, Cousins amassed 20,934 passing yards and 153 touchdowns – the pickings have been slim for the team led by the former Commanders quarterback, with just one playoff win.

Financially, however, the move to the Vikings has paid off for Cousins. During his time in Minneapolis, the quarterback earned a whopping 185 million dollars.

Last season also ended in disappointment, however, and that after finishing in first place in the NFC North with 13 wins and 4 losses. In the Wild Card round of the playoffs, however, they were immediately eliminated by the New York Giants.

The reluctance of the Vikings’ board of directors to extend Kirk Cousins’ contract could therefore indicate that the coming season could be Kirk Cousins’ last in Minnesota.

However, Vikings owner Wilf has high expectations for the coming season: “Kirk is an outstanding leader. He’s led the team incredibly over the last couple of years and we expect big things from him in 2023. “
