Lamar Jackson best dual-threat quarterback in NFL history for Cam Newton

Longtime NFL quarterback Cam Newton apparently thinks a lot of Lamar Jackson. So much so that he calls him the best dual-threat quarterback in NFL history

In his first NFL season, Cam Newton set new standards on the ground, scoring a whopping 14 rushing touchdowns in 2011.

The former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots quarterback even ran into the end zone with the ball in his hands a total of 75 times, a statistic he still leads today.

It would therefore not have been really surprising if Newton had answered the question about the best dual-threat quarterback in NFL history with a reference to himself in his “4th & 1” podcast. Instead, however, he opted for Ravens playmaker Lamar Jackson, last season’s regular-season MVP.

“Lamar’s style is a little different than mine. He has big-play potential on every play. He has speed that I never had and is simply electrifying,” says Newton, who is impressed by the 27-year-old.

He goes on to explain: “And then I played the game more powerfully. I can run, but I’ll probably get caught. Vick, Lamar, they’re not going to get caught.”

On the all-time list of quarterbacks with the most rushing touchdowns, Jackson is currently tied for 20th with 29 touchdowns. Of the currently active players, Bills quarterback Josh Allen has run into the end zone the most times – a total of 53 times.
