Former running back Brian Mitchell harshly criticises Jack Del Rio for his Capitol comments

Jack Del Rio is facing harsh criticism for his comments on the attack on the US Capitol in January. Brian Mitchell, former running back for the Washington Commanders, now blamed him for the indiscipline on the team and also took Head Coach Ron Rivera to task.

Munich – Jack Del Rio’s comments about attacking the US Capitol in January 2021 are flying around his ears.

The Washington Commanders defensive coordinator had called the storming of the Capitol on 6 January 2021 a “minor altercation”.

Brian Mitchell, the former Washington Commanders running back, now verbally took him apart for his statements on a radio show he co-hosts. He also took current head coach Ron Rivera to task.

“There’s a lot going on with this team and that’s where I actually want to quit, I’m so sick of it. We have a coach that we try to put on a pedestal because he’s ‘so disciplined’. But he’s got a fucking Defence Coordinator who’s constantly provoking. You have an undisciplined DC, but you want your football team to be disciplined,” Mitchell vented his anger.

But that wasn’t all: “I’m interested in him getting a grip on his bloody DC before someone beats him up.” Mitchell said it was important that someone stop Del Rio from constantly provoking. He is also catering to right-wingers by doing so. The fact that Rivera was constantly just making statements about training and who had how many hits didn’t interest him.

Brian Mitchell: “Del Rio can say what he wants “

Rivera should deal with the man who “constantly goes against everything in the way he presents himself.” Mitchell added: “We have to understand one thing: This football thing is cool, but right now there’s a lot with this team that’s not cool. “

Because the head coach never comments on Del Rio, he said, he can continue to just say what he wants without fear of consequences. “You wonder why the team wasn’t disciplined last year? Because your damn defensive coordinator, who runs your defense, isn’t disciplined.”

A three-time All Pro, Super Bowl winner and a member of the Washington Ring of Fame, Mitchell is certainly considered an influential voice in the franchise.
