Where is Ezekiel Elliott playing this season? The ex-Dallas Cowboys running back has yet to find a new team after his release and continues to hold back on statements about his future
The future of Ezekiel Elliott remains unclear. The running back, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys in mid-March, remains a free agent and has yet to find a new employer.
Rumors of interested teams have been limited recently, and Elliott himself has rarely commented on his future in recent weeks. He was approached by reporters at a charity event, but did not reveal any new information.
According to the Dallas Morning News, he simply stated, “I’m doing well. Very good. “
Return to Dallas an option?
NFL experts currently believe the running back will not find a new team until after the draft. This year’s class is certainly well-stocked at the position, so some teams would likely not consider an Elliott commitment until they come up empty in the draft.
A return to the Cowboys is also said to be a possibility. However, only if Elliott would settle for a significantly lower salary. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott would possibly like a “Zeke” comeback to the Cowboys. The 29-year-old had expressed several times in recent weeks that the dismissal of his friend “really hurt” him.
Elliott joined the Cowboys as the fourth pick of the draft in 2016 and quickly developed into one of the league’s best running backs. Injuries, however, caused his productivity to dip in recent seasons. In 2022, he managed the lowest numbers of his NFL career in terms of rushing yards and receiving yards.
