Donald Trump rails against the NFL over new kickoff rules: “Beginning of the end”

The NFL has changed the kickoff rules for the new season. This does not go down well with US presidential candidate Donald Trump

The new NFL season has brought a noticeable change to the kickoff rules. The kickoff team itself no longer runs off at kickoff, but is already facing the receiving team and must wait until the returner has caught the ball. Only then are they allowed to move.

The background to the change is that the NFL wants to better protect the health of its players.

Meanwhile, US presidential candidate Donald Trump is anything but pleased with the new rules.

“I can’t believe the NFL is actually doing away with the always exciting kickoff return. Such an exciting part of the game. What’s the point? It’s the beginning of the end,” Trump ranted on ‘X’.

This is not the first time that the former president has been critical of the best football league in the world. After all, it was he who reacted with incomprehension when players like quarterback Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem years ago to protest against racism, among other things.
