Deshaun Watson trade rescinded? Texans GM becomes clear

Since the trade of Deshaun Watson, the situation surrounding the Cleveland Browns quarterback has intensified. Could the change be reversed? Texans GM Nick Caserio has a strong opinion on the matter.

Munich – In mid-March, the Cleveland Browns announced big news: Quarterback Deshaun Watson was signed by the Houston Texans for countless draft picks. Even then, countless lawsuits with allegations of sexual harassment were running against the playmaker, yet the new acquisition was proudly presented.

A lot has changed since then. Especially in the past three weeks, the situation surrounding Watson has become increasingly aggravated. More lawsuits have been filed, and the 26-year-old’s NFL future is more uncertain than ever.

Many a Browns fan might have wondered recently whether the trade could not be cancelled again. Nick Caserio, general manager of the Houston Texans, has now given a clear rejection to these hopes.

Can Watson trade be reversed?

In an interview with “SportsRadio 610”, the GM was asked if the trade could be reversed months after it was made. His answer was subsequently unequivocal.

“Forget about this particular trade. Every trade that happens is preceded by a process that you have to go through. The teams come to an agreement, and once it’s agreed upon, it’s submitted to the league. The transaction is processed and filed with the league.”

He continued, “It’s no different than a trade on draft day. Even though it happens more in real time. They’ve made a deal, they contact the league. Or we have a trade, we have an agreement, we send the paperwork, and everybody goes their separate ways. Unless I’m missing something, or unless you call Goodell and ask him for his interpretation and opinion, I’d say all the trades are in the past and now we’re just focused on training camp and moving the team forward.”

Watson signed a five-year, $230 million contract with the Browns, with the sum fully guaranteed.
