Colin Kaepernick has been waiting for an engagement in the NFL for over three years. Hue Jackson would have liked to bring the quarterback to the Cleveland Browns as early as the 2017 season.
In the 2017 season the Cleveland Browns experienced one of the worst seasons in the history of the NFL. The franchise from the US state of Ohio did not manage a single victory and ended the season with a 0-16 record.
It might have gone differently if the then head coach Hue Jackson had gotten his desired quarterback: Colin Kaepernick.
“I wanted him,” Jackson revealed on ESPN radio. “It just didn’t work out. “It all has to add up, the finance, the draft, whatever. It wasn’t my decision.”
Jackson had obviously not made his desire clear enough within the franchise. “We haven’t had a serious discussion about Colin. At that point, there were other players that we were talking about and that we might want to include in our team. I’m not saying that he couldn’t have become an issue later on. You have to exhaust all possibilities. But at that point his name didn’t come up. “Kizer instead of Kaepernick
The Cleveland Browns chose a young quarterback instead, using their number one pick to select Defensive End Myles Garrett. They missed their chance to sign Patrick Mahomes, now a Super Bowl MVP. Instead, they chose quarterback DeShone Kizer in the 2nd round, but handed him over to the Green Bay Packers just one season later.
Perhaps Kaepernick, who fell from grace because of his anthemic protests against racism, would have been a better choice.
