Aaron Rodgers chatted in a podcast about a trip to Peru during which he also consumed the psychedelic drink Ayahuasca. The NFL probably doesn’t see this as a violation of its own narcotics policy.
Munich – Aaron Rodgers took a trip to Peru in the 2020 offseason – the following season he won his third of now four MVP titles. As he now revealed on “The Aubrey Marcus Podcast”, he probably owed his achievement to the specific reason for his trip: Ayahuasca.
The psychedelic drink is often used by South American natives for religious, ritual or medicinal purposes. Rodgers said taking it gave him “a deep and meaningful appreciation of life”. “I came back and knew I would never be the same,” the Green Bay Packers quarterback added. He also stated that the experience helped him to be so successful during the season.
NFL found no violation of anti-drug policy
Whether the now 38-year-old was also sure he was not violating NFL regulations by doing so, he did not mention. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed, however, that there was no substance abuse and that the test for a performance-enhancing substance would also have been negative, as “ESPN” reports.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur also seemed to have given little thought to his superstar’s possible suspension beforehand. “I honestly haven’t really thought about it,” the coach explained.
