It wasn’t just the 14:28 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that was on Jon Gruden’s mind. But also the architecture of the brand new SoFi Stadium. The Raiders coach spoke of a bizarre evening.
Munich – Jon Gruden has seen a lot in his career. So it’s saying something when the Las Vegas Raiders coach talks about a bizarre night.
And he doesn’t mean the 14:28 defeat at the Los Angeles Chargers, but the circumstances. Like, for example, the weather-related delay. The game started 35 minutes later than scheduled because of a thunderstorm with lightning and thunder. A surprise to Gruden, after all, SoFi Stadium has a roof.
Jon Gruden: “I thought it was a joke “
“I’ve never been in an indoor stadium with a delay because of lightning,” Gruden said. However, the arena is open on one side, which is why it is officially called an open-air stadium.
“I’m not an engineer. I have no idea, and I’ve never heard this before,” Gruden said of the delay. “I thought it was a joke. But it affected both teams.” But then he wouldn’t cite the forced break as a reason for the defeat.
Anyway, Gruden was fascinated by the architecture of the stadium that evening. He also had his eye on the dressing room.
“The locker room is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen,” Gruden said. “You can’t see anybody. It’s like a maze. Whoever set up this changing room for the guests, I’d like to meet them and find out what their idea was. “
