The mail scandal around Jon Gruden and the Washington football team goes into the next round. Ex-quarterback and activist Colin Kaepernick was also insulted by the former Raiders coach.
Munich – The 650,000 emails being analyzed as part of the investigation into the Washington football team continue to cast a large shadow over the NFL.
Jon Gruden, who already resigned as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this week, has to face further leaked mail content.
In a message to ex-Washington GM Bruce Allen, for example, he also allegedly insulted former NFL quarterback and current civil rights activist Colin Kaepernick. “They suspend people for consuming amino acids, then they should cut this f*cker too,” Yahoo Sports quotes him as saying.
Kaepernick had caused a national uproar in the United States during his time as 49ers quarterback with his anthem protest against police violence and racism. Gruden, who made several racist comments in emails to Allen, among others, may have had a problem with Kaepernick’s activism as well.
Anonymous investigator claims: No more cases like Gruden
It is not yet clear whether other NFL officials will have to answer for difficult mail content after Gruden. In any case, the NFL claims not to have discovered any similar cases.
An anonymous source from the circle of the investigation wants to know, according to the “Associated Press”, that the NFL had not discovered any problems that “could even be remotely compared to Gruden”. No player or official made racist, homophobic or sexist comments.
Critics doubt the statements and the independence of the investigators from the NFL and continue to demand that the 650,000 emails be made public. Raiders QB Derek Carr also called during a press conference for everything to be “opened up” – many people might start sweating if this happened.
