Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has spoken out about the horrific incident surrounding Henry Ruggs III in an emotional press conference, saying the receiver contacted him and fellow receiver Hunter Renfrow at midnight, just hours before the accident.
“He texted me and Hunter at midnight asking how his golf swing looked and he needed help with it. I see that, wake up the next morning and wonder how to even deal with it,” the 30-year-old said.
Carr had also become emotional when he passed Ruggs’ place in the dressing room, “It really got to me, he won’t be here anymore. I’m not saying that because of his ability, I’m saying that because I love him,” Carr further explained.
Regardless of his relationship with Ruggs, Carr let it be known that his heart goes out to the family of the accident victim. He said there are things over which one has no control, and he would continue to hold to his faith on such issues, even if it was hard at times.

+++ November 3, 5:30 p.m.: Ruggs was probably travelling at around 250 km/h +++
According to District Attorney Eric Bauman, Henry Ruggs was travelling at a grossly excessive speed of around 250 km/h at the time of the accident.
Upon impact with the Toyota in front of him, the former Raiders receiver’s vehicle likely still had over 200 km/h on the gauge.
Furthermore, it is now also clear that Ruggs was heavily intoxicated behind the wheel. Bauman speaks of a blood alcohol level that was “more than twice the legal limit. “

According to Las Vegas police, a gun was also found in Henry Ruggs’ car after the accident.
Furthermore, the authorities stated that the 22-year-old refused to take a breathalyser test immediately after the accident. However, this was then taken at the hospital a short time later.

The court trial started early Wednesday morning. Ruggs had left hospital earlier and appeared in court with a wound to his face and a neck brace.
He is currently in custody.
Court documents show that he is charged with two counts: drunk driving causing substantial bodily harm and reckless driving.

While recording the accident, Henry Ruggs was inattentive and apparently under the influence of alcohol, according to a police report.
Las Vegas police announced that Ruggs will be charged with unlicensed driving under the influence of drugs resulting in death.
According to an “ESPN” report, his girlfriend was in the Raiders pro’s car and also had to be treated in hospital.
On Tuesday afternoon, Ruggs was admitted to the Clark County Detention Center to be treated for his injuries.
If convicted, he apparently faces up to 20 years in prison.

Demolished cars and one fatality: Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a traffic accident in Las Vegas early Tuesday morning.
According to a police report, the Raiders receiver collided with another car, apparently hitting the rear of the other vehicle. While the 22-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries, the other party’s car burst into flames.
