Washington Commanders: sale to Harris falling through? New investor in the race

The last report was that the sale of Dan Snyder’s Washington Commanders to a group of investors led by Josh Harris was close to being completed – but now everything could turn out differently and the deal could fall through at the last second. As reported by Darren M. Haynes of “WUSA-9” among others, Brian Davis is said to have submitted an offer of seven billion dollars – and that in cash.

Davis is a former basketball player for the Duke Blue Devils college team and owned shares in D.C. United, a Major League Soccer (MLS) soccer club, until 2009.

Because his net worth is unknown, there is probably suspicion about a possible purchase. According to the report, American Bank is now likely to clarify where the 52-year-old’s money came from. If the deal goes through, Davis would be the first dark-skinned owner of an NFL team.

Among others, the league’s finance committee as well as the 24 owners of the other teams would have to agree before the sale becomes official.
