Tyreek Hill hints at leaving Miami: “I’m out, bro”

After missing the playoffs with the Miami Dolphins, Tyreek Hill is questioning his future. The star receiver is openly talking about leaving early.

Tyreek Hill publicly speculated about his future after the Miami Dolphins’ 20-32 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday. The 30-year-old wide receiver hinted that his time in Miami may be coming to an end.

“This is the first time I haven’t made the playoffs. I have to do what’s best for me and my family,” Hill told journalists. ”Whether that’s here or somewhere else, I’m opening that door for myself. I’m out, bro.”

Hill justified his decision with his sporting ambitions: “It was great playing here. But at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for my career. I’m too competitive to just be there.”

In the game against the Jets, Hill had only two catches for 20 yards and left the field in the fourth quarter.

Disappointing season for Hill

The season was disappointing for him overall as well. A wrist injury sidelined the superstar for long stretches, even though he played in all 17 games. Nevertheless, “Cheetah” narrowly missed the 1,000-yard mark with 959 yards, which he had previously surpassed for four consecutive years.

Hill explained that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s absence made the situation even more difficult for the offense. But he also wants to reevaluate things with a view to his career: “I have to see what I have to do to improve as a player and crack the 1000-yard mark again.”

McDaniel reacts calmly

Hill later vented his dissatisfaction on social media multiple times. He did not explicitly ask for a trade. But many fans interpret his words as a farewell.

Head coach Mike McDaniel is taking his star receiver’s expressions of displeasure calmly. “I’m not going to put too much weight on expressions of disappointment after the game,” said the 41-year-old. Discussions between Hill and the team are planned in the coming days.

The 30-year-old, who still has two seasons left on his contract, had already pushed for a trade once before, in 2022 with the Kansas City Chiefs. While the Chiefs have since won two Super Bowls, Hill’s hopes were not fulfilled in Miami. Last season was his worst since his rookie year.
