After a disastrous start to the season, the Denver Broncos are suddenly statistically on their way to the Super Bowl and have fans dreaming – and rightfully so! Comment.
The NFL season couldn’t have started much worse for the Denver Broncos. Five defeats in six games. One in particular could hardly have been more embarrassing.
In week three, the team led by quarterback superstar Russell Wilson was torn apart by the Miami Dolphins in a 20:70 debacle.
Afterwards, the media and fans gleefully reproached head coach Sean Payton for his unspeakable comments about his predecessor Nathaniel Hackett.
As a reminder: Payton described the performance of last year’s Broncos head coach and his assistants as “one of the worst I’ve ever seen in NFL history. Everything I heard about last year…we’re going to do the opposite. “
Denver has turned the season around
Words that seemed like an own goal at the start of the season. But around a month and a half later, things look different. Completely different.
In just a few weeks, the Broncos have managed to turn around a season that had already been labeled a disaster by countless observers.
They won an impressive five games in a row, beating top teams such as the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. A 1-5 record became 6-5 – and the playoffs are more realistic than ever.
The last time such a streak was achieved was in 2015 – when the run ended with the win in Super Bowl 50.
Fans can now dream of a similar run of success again after the performances of recent weeks. And quite rightly so
Broncos with good playoff chances
In addition to the offense, which is getting better and better, it is above all the defense that is delivering. In the past four games, the Broncos-D has forced 15 turnovers – the best rate since 1989.
The franchise has the momentum on its side – and can underpin its status as the hottest team in the league in the coming weeks against weakening opponents.
By then at the latest, it will be clear whether Payton and Co. can achieve more than their first playoff appearance in eight years. There is currently a lot to be said for it
