Tennessee Titans: Coach Todd Downing arrested for drink-driving after win

Bad end to a successful night: Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing was caught driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested the night after a 27-17 win at the Green Bay Packers.

Munich – The Tennessee Titans picked up a key win at the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, the 27-17 victory leaving the team with a 7-3 record and bolstering their playoff aspirations. For offensive coordinator Todd Downing, however, the game has an unpleasant aftermath: he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol the night after the game.

Downing was pulled over by a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper in Williamson County around 2:30 a.m. Friday for speeding. However, the trooper noticed “signs of impairment” on Downing during the course of the stop and also detected “the odour of an intoxicant” and arrested Downing as a result.

Charge: speeding and alcohol

Downing was taken to the Williamson County jail shortly after 4:30 a.m. and released on bail about two hours later. He was charged with speeding and driving under the influence.

The Titans have not yet commented on the incident.

The 42-year-old is in his fourth season with the Titans and second as OC. With the Packers, it was mostly his offense that delivered. 408 total yards, 320 passing yards and 27 points were season bests.
