Stadium renovation: Jacksonville Jaguars facing temporary move to Daytona race track?

The stadium of the Jacksonville Jaguars needs to be renovated. Currently, there are discussions about how long and from when this work should take place and where the franchise will play its games during this time. One option: the Daytona International Speedway.

Jacksonville Jaguars fans are used to fast-paced football, but moving to Daytona International Speedway for it?

That can really happen! At least temporarily

Jacksonville Jaguars: Two options for stadium dilemma

Because the home “TIAA Bank Field” stadium needs to be renovated. The only question is when. And how long that will take. The franchise is in the process of exchanging ideas with the city on how best to implement this project.

The contract between the team and the city still goes until 2029. Apparently the rebuild is supposed to happen in 2025. Now, according to the American reports, there are two options. The first option would be for the renovation to last four years, until the end of the contract.

In this case, the Jags could continue to stay in the stadium and play their home games. However, this option is more expensive than the alternative version.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Off to the Mega Race Track

The alternative would be a two-year plan to implement the renovation more quickly. But then the team would have to play somewhere else for that time. There are several places here. For example, the University of Florida’s “Ben Hill Griffin Stadium” or Orlando’s “Camping World Stadium”.

However, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, the Jaguars will soon meet with the officials of the Daytona International Speedway. The place where the legendary Daytona races take place.

It is actually a racetrack, but the setting can apparently also be converted so that it would meet the NFL guidelines for a stadium. After all, a full 101,500 people can fit in the stands of this venue.

More than enough! And it would be just under 140 kilometres from the current stadium.
