Telvin Smith is arrested in Jacksonville. The Jaguar’s pro bowler is said to have slept with a 17-year-old girl several times.
Former linebacker Telvin Smith of the Jacksonville Jaguars was arrested on Wednesday.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the 29-year-old is accused of sexual activities with a minor. Meanwhile, Smith was released from jail again, as he was able to post bail of $50,003.
Smith will have to face a trial, however, the court date has not yet been set. “ESPN” reported further details, which are believed to come from a source close to the court. According to the source, the linebacker allegedly slept with a 17-year-old girl several times, both in his house and in his car.
Career on ice
This is not the first time Smith has had problems with the law. It wasn’t until the fall that police were seen on Smith’s property, the NFL pro’s house was searched and his Cadillac was towed away. Even then, according to “ESPN”, the relationship with the minor was reported.
Meanwhile, the linebacker’s football career is on hold. In May last year, Smith had announced that he would not play football this season because he had to “put his world in order”. He was put on the reserved/retired list by the Jaguars. Smith, who would earn around ten million dollars in the 2020 season, still has three years left in his contract with the Florida franchise.
Smith was part of the famous “Sacksonville” defense that saw the Jags narrowly defeat the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game in January 2018. Smith was the Jags’ best tackler this season and was called to the Pro Bowl.
