Raiders gather on Chiefs logo – extra motivation for Patrick Mahomes

The Las Vegas Raiders gather on the Chiefs logo before the duel against Kansas City. The action does not go down well with the Chiefs and provides extra motivation to beat their opponents.

Munich – Actually, the Kansas City Chiefs around quarterback superstar Patrick Mahomes did not lack motivation anyway when they asked the rival Las Vegas Raiders to a duel at their home Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

However, the visitors then did something that only fueled the mood of the Chiefs players. After their warm-up programme, the Raiders initially gathered at the 25-yard line, but then moved the location for their short team meeting to midfield – on the hosts’ logo.

While wild boos rang out in the stadium, Mahomes and Co. were only further incited by the action.

Chiefs incited by Raiders action

“We didn’t talk about it much,” the playmaker explained after the game. “But you definitely don’t want people coming into your stadium and trying to disrespect things that you helped build in part. It just motivated us even more to go out and win against this good team that we have a rivalry with,” Mahomes continued.

And the plan succeeded. Kansas City celebrated a 48-9 triumph, the highest win in the 51-year history of the rivalry between the two franchises.
