Bang in the NFL: The Pittsburgh Steelers have fired Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada
Long speculated, now it’s official.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have responded to their ongoing offensive crisis by parting ways with offensive coordinator Matt Canada, effective immediately.
“Matt Canada has been relieved of his duties as Offensive Coordinator. I appreciate Matt’s hard work and dedication and wish him all the best in his future career,” the franchise quoted head coach Mike Tomlin in a post on “X” (formerly Twitter).
In week eleven, the Steelers narrowly lost 10-13 to the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Kenny Pickett completed a disastrous 15 of 28 passes for 106 passing yards and no touchdowns.
The young playmaker had just two touchdown passes in the past seven games. Canada has been subject to massive criticism for weeks

Pittsburgh Steelers: Offense weakness infuriates players
Pittsburgh is still on course for the playoffs with a 6-4 record, but has a negative point differential (-29).
A worrying development that has also made waves in the roster. After the most recent loss, running back Najee Harris burst his bubble when asked if the franchise’s positive record was encouraging despite the problems on offense.
“You can do two things. You can look at the record and say, ‘OK, we’re still good right now. Or you can look at the record and say, ‘If we keep playing the way we’ve been playing, how much longer is this crap going to be good?’ When I look at it like that, I ask myself: ‘How long is this crap going to last? You might look at it like it’s a good record, but I mean, this is the NFL. If we win the way we’ve been winning, it’s not going to get us anywhere.”
The 51-year-old Canada had been OC for the Steelers since 2021. The firing also marks a first for the Pittsburgh franchise.
As “ESPN” reports, the Steelers have fired a head coach or coordinator during a season for the first time since 1941. Back then, Bert Bell had to leave after just two games as coach
