Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Tomlin continues uncanny streak

There is no such thing as a negative record under Mike Tomlin: In his 17th season as head coach, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still able to avoid it

Mike Tomlin continues his almost uncanny streak.

The 51-year-old has been head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2007, and the franchise has not had a negative record since.

On Sunday, Pittsburgh won 30-23 against the Seattle Seahawks, which means the Steelers are now 9-7 and still have a chance to make the playoffs.

At the same time, they will finish their 17th consecutive season without a negative record. With one game remaining, it will also be the 14th year with a positive record.

Pittsburgh has gone 8-8 three times in the Tomlin era (2012, 2013 and 2018). Despite this, the Steelers have only won the Super Bowl once in that time (2008). They have made the playoffs ten times so far

NFL: How the Steelers make it to the playoffs

To make the playoffs this year, the Steeelers must beat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18 and lose to either the Jacksonville Jaguars or Buffalo Bills at the same time. Second option: The Steelers win as well as the Bills and the Jaguars, but the game between the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts ends in a tie.

Fun fact: “The Athletic” conducted an exciting survey a few weeks ago and asked 85 NFL players various questions. When asked which coach the players would most like to play under, Steelers coach Tomlin was the most popular choice.

The 51-year-old finished just ahead of Mike McDaniel of the Miami Dolphins. In a tie for third place: Andy Reid (Kansas City Chiefs) and Dan Campbell (Detroit Lions).
