Le’Veon Bell has apologised to Pittsburgh Steelers fans for his behaviour and decision. He went on strike for the entire 2018 season, now he regrets it
Running back Le’Veon Bell regrets his decision to leave the Pittsburgh Steelers – and has now apologised to fans.
In a video he explained: “I never apologised to the fans for the holdout – or for leaving the Steelers. I want to apologise for leaving the best fans in the world”.
Bell had missed the entire 2018 season as he had gone on strike for a better contract. After that, the Steelers had let his contract expire.
“I shouldn’t have left. It’s my fault,” the 31-year-old added.

Unfriendly separation
Bell had a successful time with the franchise that selected him in the second round in the 2013 draft. In 2014, he rose from rookie to All-Pro and set several records.
After the messy split, Bell then signed with the New York Jets in 2019.
In his further career stations, however, the great success failed to materialise. Since his last stop with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he was released in January 2022, Bell has not been under contract with any franchise. Instead, he has concentrated on his career as a professional boxer - which has not been particularly successful so far.
Happy ending with the Steelers?
Lately, he had described the likelihood of returning to the field as slim - but expressed a desire to officially end his career with the Steelers. It would at least be a small redemption.
