Odell Beckham Jr. is returning to the NFL. With the Baltimore Ravens, he will be back on the field for the first time since the 2022 Super Bowl. There he had suffered a serious injury.
Last year, there was already a lot of speculation about Odell Beckham Jr’s comeback plans. Ultimately, however, he sat out the entire season. It wasn’t until after playing time that the wide receiver reached an agreement with the Baltimore Ravens on a contract.
For now, OBJ has signed for one year, which could earn him up to 18 million US dollars, quite lucrative for the three-time Pro Bowler after a year off. He tore his cruciate ligament in the victorious Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams, which is why the fan favourite had to struggle to get back.
In Baltimore, he is expected to join young receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman in making quarterback Lamar Jackson shine and finally launch an assault on the Super Bowl after many good years, where things often went awry in the playoffs.
Bateman: He brought swag to the booth
Full of praise for OBJ is fellow receiver Bateman. “He brought some swag and personality into the booth. He’s going to bring a special energy again, which we all benefit from. He’s definitely very good for the booth,” the Ravens receiver said.
Beckham is also looking forward to the new challenge: “I’m very excited and hungry, I still want it so bad. I’m ready to do great things again.” Such statements should please Ravens fans.
Ravens GM Eric DeCosta is also looking forward to the prominent new addition, “What we saw was very committed. We’re very excited to have him with us.” So the anticipation for the new season is high. Not least thanks to OBJ.
