Caleb Williams is in for some warm words. Titans star Jeffery Simmons announced trash talk. He’s already found an angle, too
Caleb Williams is eagerly awaiting his NFL debut. The number 1 pick’s anticipation is huge. However, the euphoria may be somewhat dampened by the opponents’ “reception rituals”.
The quarterback will undoubtedly have to take an extra hit or two as a welcome.
Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons has his work cut out for him against the Tennessee Titans. Williams will have plenty to listen to from the passionate trash talker Simmons in his first game.
The target has already been set: the Bears quarterback’s painted fingernails.
“Painted nails. I can’t wait to tell him that,” Simmons said on the “Rich Eisen Show.” “Definitely. Oh, it’s going to be one of those games. I mean, he can probably hear a lot from his teammates right now, but especially in a game like this. It’s going to be the first game of the season.”
The headlines are likely to belong to the Bears in the game simply because of Williams and his debut. That also provides Simmons with additional motivation to lash out verbally.
“I think when it comes to special games, even prime time games, nobody expects Tennessee, which we all know. In a game like Chicago, I’m sure they think we’re about to take a tough loss. That also makes me talk even more and motivate myself a little bit more to get in a different mode. I’m going to be in a different mode in this game,” he said.
