NFL: Tyreek Hill’s serious injury overshadows Dolphins’ victory over New York Jets

The Miami Dolphins paid dearly for their victory over the New York Jets, losing Tyreek Hill to a serious injury.

The Miami Dolphins celebrated their first NFL win of the season, but also lost wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The Dolphins beat the New York Jets 27-21.

Hill suffered a serious knee injury during a catch in the third quarter, and a dislocated knee and several torn ligaments were diagnosed during the game. His 2025 season is over, at least, and 2026 is already in jeopardy.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was particularly impressive with a flawless game. He completed 17 of his 25 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns, giving him a passer rating of just under 115. Running back De’Von Achane impressed with 101 total yards and one score, while tight end Darren Waller caught two touchdowns in his NFL comeback.

New York Jets only with cosmetic results

The close score does not reflect how one-sided the game was. The Jets only managed three points in the first half and fumbled three times, including on the goal line. It wasn’t quarterback Justin Fields’ fault, as he put up good numbers with 226 passing yards, 81 rushing yards, and one touchdown each.

Overall, the Jets racked up 197 rushing yards – teams rarely lose games with more than 150 rushing yards. Breece Hall also gained 81 yards on the ground. The best receiver was Garrett Wilson with 82 yards and one touchdown.

In week five, the Dolphins travel to the Carolina Panthers, while the New York Jets host the Dallas Cowboys at Metlife Stadium.
