NFL: Tyreek Hill arrest update: New juicy revelation surrounding the cop

Before the Dolphins game against the Jaguars, Miami receiver Tyreek Hill was arrested. Now there are juicy revelations about the police officer responsible

Before the Miami Dolphins’ NFL opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars (20-17), there were crazy scenes surrounding star receiver Tyreek Hill. The Dolphins player was arrested by the police on his way to the stadium.

Videos subsequently went viral on social media showing Hill being brutally pulled out of his car, dragged onto the sidewalk and handcuffed.

The athlete then stated unequivocally that he wanted the police officer responsible to be fired. Now a new report apparently strengthens the wide receiver’s arguments

Tyreek Hill: Police officer already suspended six times

According to “Fox Sports 640,” the officer, who was initially placed on administrative duty after the incident, has already been suspended six times in his career! According to the report, 27-year-old Danny Torres was suspended for a total of 20 days.

This history could play a major role in internal proceedings. However, the report also reveals that Torres has not been suspended since 2019.

Hill had already stated in a press conference a few days ago: “He must be dismissed. He not only treated me badly, but also my teammates, who have nothing to do with it. I don’t know, I don’t say this often, but he needs to be sacked.”

Meanwhile, a statement from Hill’s attorney said, “We believe the officer’s use of force was excessive, escalating and reckless. We demand that the officer be fired with immediate effect.”

Hill’s counselor Drew Rosenhaus had previously vented his anger over the treatment of his client. On “The Dan Le Batard Show”, he called for drastic consequences not only for the officer in question: “I personally believe that the police officers who did this to Tyreek should not be in this position – they should be fired.”

The way they treated Hill was “appalling”, Rosenhaus continued: “They didn’t treat him like a human being.” The manager did not say whether Hill was of the same opinion.

Tyreek Hill: traffic offense as the cause

The “Fritz Pollard Alliance Foundation”, a foundation that promotes diversity in the NFL, is also calling for consequences. It sees the actions of the officials as a racist act that must be punished.

The tickets published by “ESPN” show that Hill was pulled over for “reckless driving” and for “violating the seatbelt requirement”. According to the report, Hill was traveling at around 60 miles per hour, the equivalent of around 96 km/h, which is based on a “visual estimate”.

In residential areas in Miami, the speed limit is 30 miles per hour. This is only raised to 70 miles per hour when entering the highway.

Additional info: Reckless driving costs 179 dollars, violation of the seatbelt requirement 129 dollars.

Dolphins issue statement

The Miami Dolphins have already criticized the behavior of the police officers during the traffic stop as disproportionately harsh. “We are saddened by the overly aggressive and violent behavior of the police officers,” the franchise’s statement read, ‘It is both infuriating and heartbreaking to see the very people we trust to protect our community use such unnecessary force and hostility toward these players. ’

Police had previously released video footage from bodycams of the checkpoint. It shows Hill sitting in his black sports car, talking to a police officer through the window. The door of his car is then pulled open, the professional footballer is dragged out and restrained on the ground by several officers.

The Dolphins also wrote in their statement that this was “a reminder that not every situation like this ends peacefully, and we are grateful that this one did.”

There are “some officers who confuse their responsibility and dedication with misguided power,” it continued: “We commend the MDPD (Miami Dade Police Department, ed.) for taking the proper and necessary action and releasing this footage so quickly, but also urge them to take equally swift and decisive action against the officers who behaved so abhorrently. ”

Police also speak out

The police department itself issued a statement to explain the events surrounding Hill’s temporary detention.

According to the statement, Hill was handcuffed to ensure the safety of the officers. “To be clear, he was never arrested. He was detained to ensure officer safety because he had previously driven in a manner that put himself and others at great risk,” Steadman Stahl, president of the South Florida Police Association, was quoted as saying.

According to the report, the Dolphins star was “not immediately cooperative”. He also refused to sit on the ground after being handcuffed, which is why he was held on the ground. According to the police, the situation was resolved within a few minutes, Hill received two tickets and was released.

Stephanie V. Daniels, the director of the responsible authority in Miami, had previously stated that an internal investigation would be launched “to ensure a thorough review of the matter. ”
