Even after the draft, newly minted NFL players fell victim to prank calls.
The fake calls to college talents were a big topic during the NFL draft in Green Bay.
But apparently, even after the draft, young football players received calls from anonymous individuals who were trying to prank them.
One of the victims of such a prank call was Ashton Jeanty. Possibly the greatest running back talent of this year’s draft class, he spoke about the incident himself to FanSided.com.
According to him, he received a call half an hour after being picked sixth overall by the Las Vegas Raiders. The caller falsely told him that Jeanty had been traded to the Dallas Cowboys.
As Pro Football Talk learned from NBC Sports from other sources, Jeanty was not the only one who received a call after his own draft pick.
Prank calls during NFL draft: Shedeur Sanders and Abdul Carter also affected
The issue had already become a topic of discussion during the draft when supposed top talent Shedeur Sanders fell victim to a prank call in which the prankster claimed that Sanders had been drafted.
Instead, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders was picked late in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns.
Sanders wasn’t the only one who suffered from this prank. Abdul Carter, Tyler Warren, Kyle McCord, Chase Lundt, and an unnamed undrafted free agent were also affected.
Particularly brutal: Lundt, who was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round, had previously been called five times and pranked on the phone.
