Star quarterback Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals faces a long enforced break from the National Football League (NFL). According to ESPN, the 28-year-old may need surgery for an injury to his big toe joint (“turf toe”) and could be out for three months.
Burrow was brought down in the second quarter of Sunday’s 31-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, with several players falling on top of him. Burrow initially limped and then lay down on the ground. He later had to be supported on his way to the locker room and eventually left the stadium on crutches.
Injuries had already ended Burrow’s seasons prematurely in 2020 and 2023.
