The situation at the Cleveland Browns is unusual, but apparently extremely relaxed. At least that’s what Shedeur Sanders emphasizes, who finds himself in the middle of a quarterback room that few would have expected.

The Browns have Deshaun Watson, who has been out with injury for even longer, but also Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.

So it was surprising that the team selected two young playmakers in the draft in Dillon Gabriel and Sanders.

Sanders, who fell brutally to the fifth round in the draft, recently spoke about how well the playmakers get along in the locker room.

He now clarified that his relationship with Gabriel is also healthy, despite the competitive situation.

“Everything has been cool so far,” Sanders told SportsCasting. “He’s a cool guy. I like how he handles situations – especially the negative coverage he’s been getting. I’m just glad he’s staying positive and handling everything well. We get along really well.”

Gabriel himself recently emphasized that both can “learn from each other.” While Sanders has had to deal with a lot of headlines and negative coverage for months, Gabriel recently said that the Browns may have picked him too early.

For Sanders, for whom the draft was disappointing, the priority now is to secure a place in the Browns’ squad. Possibly as backup for Flacco or Pickett. Or even as a surprise starter?

Sanders is focused in any case.

“I’m mainly concentrating on the team, on everyone around me right now – the coaches and the team,” Sanders said. ‘I’m hardly on my phone, I don’t talk to anyone much. Not even my family. It’s a situation where I just have to focus completely – on the here and now.’
