NFL: Sean Payton speaks out on Miami Dolphins and Tom Brady rumours

Ex-Saints coach Sean Payton speaks out on the rumours surrounding the Miami Dolphins, Tom Brady and himself. He clearly denies the media reports.

Munich – Sean Payton, the former head coach of the New Orleans Saints, has spoken out for the first time about the rumours surrounding him.

Payton was most recently linked in media reports to the coaching position with the Miami Dolphins. There, he was expected to work with quarterback superstar Tom Brady. In a media roundtable, Payton now said he had “no idea” about the rumours surrounding Miami and Brady”. “I feel the same way you all do. I just heard about the story,” the former Saints coach added.

Payton: “Our focus was to beat Tom Brady “

He said afterwards, “If I would have been ready to coach this year, I would have stayed in New Orleans. And so it’s good that someone is interested in me, but that’s it. Our focus with Tom Brady was to beat him, not to team up with him.”

The Dolphins, meanwhile, have hired Mike McDaniel as their new coach and Payton announced that he would likely take a job as a TV analyst soon. It will be interesting to see if the subject of the Dolphins and Payton comes up again at some point.
