NFL Pro Bowl: squad announced! Amon-Ra St. Brown nominated as starter for AFC

The NFL will announce the squad for the Pro Bowl at the beginning of February. There is reason to be happy for a German.

The Pro Bowl will take place in Orlando, Florida on February 2. The NFL has now announced the squads for the teams of the respective conferences.

And there is reason to be happy from a German perspective.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions has not only been nominated for the NFC, but has also been named as a starter alongside Vikings star Justin Jefferson. The other pass receivers from the division are CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys and Terry McLaurin of the Washington Commanders.

In each of the past two years, St. Brown was initially not nominated and in each case moved up for Eagles star A.J. Brown.

Should St. Brown make it to the Super Bowl with the Lions, he will of course not participate in the Pro Bowl.

The same applies to Lions quarterback Jared Goff, who is set to start in the NFC. Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles was selected as the first running back, and George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers as the first tight end.

In the AFC, the honor as starting quarterback goes to Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals) and Jerry Jeudy (Cleveland Browns) are the first choices at wide receiver. Ravens machine Derrick Henry was named as the starting running back.

The number one tight end is Raiders pro Brock Bowers, ahead of Chiefs star Travis Kelce, who, thanks in part to the Swifties, the followers of his friend Taylor Swift, received the most votes in the fan voting.

The selection of players was determined by fans, players and coaches, with the votes of each group counting as one-third of the overall result.

The Pro Bowl Games, the NFL’s annual all-star event, will be held at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Thursday, January 30 and Sunday, February 2. The event for the best players from the AFC and NFC will culminate in a flag football game. Former star quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning will coach the teams.

As usual, the event will take place a week before the Super Bowl.
