The New York Giants celebrate a win against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 of the NFL Preseason. Daniel Jones eclipses Bryce Young with a near-perfect cameo. The Cincinnati Bengals are without the injured Joe Burrow against the Atlanta Falcons looking for punch.
New Orleans Saints vs. Los Angeles Chargers 22:17
The Chargers lost to the Saints 17:22 on Sunday night. But the start of the game was anything but high-scoring. The first six drives were all punts.
But points followed in the second quarter. New Orleans went ahead with a touchdown by Kendre Miller, then Los Angeles also put something on the scoreboard. The Saints went into the dressing room with a 13-10 lead.
In the following two quarters, kicker Will Lutz provided the decisive points for the Saints with three field goals. For the Chargers, quarterback Easton Stick scored at least his second touchdown of the game. The backup of Justin Herbert, however, had to accept two interceptions.
For the Saints, Jameis Winston was among those who went without a touchdown but led three scoring drives as a signal caller.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Kansas City Chiefs 10:38
Patrick Mahomes played the entire first quarter and had the most of the four Chiefs quarterbacks used with 15 pass attempts – ten of which arrived. He found Justin Watson for a touchdown in the end zone.
Mahomes backups Blaine Gabbert (7/8, 120 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Shane Buechele (10/10, 105 yards) also impressed.
The Cardinals remained largely harmless. Only running back Keaontay Ingram scored a touchdown.
Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots 17:21
The game was stopped more than ten minutes before the end due to the serious injury of Patriots rookie Isaiah Bolden.
By then Jordan Love (5/8, 84 yards) and Mac Jones (6/9, 52 yards) had each made short appearances. Jones stand-in Bailey Zappe (10/22, 117 yards) threw and ran for a touchdown each for the Patriots.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Las Vegas Raiders 17:34
Jimmy Garoppolo (4/4, 39 yards) made a good debut for the Raiders. Raiders safety Isaiah Pola-Mao provided the scene of the game, carrying an interception for 50 yards against Stetson Bennett (15/45, 142 yards) into the end zone for a pick six.
The Rams also managed a pick six through linebacker Jacob Hummel after an interception against Garoppolo backup Brian Hoyer (12/22, 144 yards). Raiders third-string quarterback Aidan O’Connell (11/18, 163 yards) threw two touchdown passes.
Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars 7:25

Houston Texans vs. Miami Dolphins 3:28
Tua Tagovailoa made an interception in his short stint. He completed five of his seven passes for a total of 61 yards. Substitute Skylar Thompson had a good showing with three touchdowns and 157 yards.
Houston’s offence sputtered. It managed just 32 rushing yards and the passes of Davis Mills and C.J. Stroud did not yield any touchdowns either.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Buffalo Bills 27:15
For the Steelers, Mitch Trubisky (10/13, 78 yards) and Kenny Pickett (3/4, 43 yards) each threw a touchdown pass.
Not Josh, but Kyle Allen was the most striking quarterback of the Bills: He scored a touchdown. Josh Allen, the starting quarterback, showed a solid performance (7/10, 64 yards). Matt Barkley, on the other hand, threw three interceptions on twelve pass attempts.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Chicago Bears 24:17
Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew (13/15, 107 yards, 1 touchdown) played strong, also Sam Ehlinger was noticeable with 124 passing yards, 60 rushing yards and a running touchdown.
For the Bears, Nathan Peterman (10/18), 115 yards) scored a touchdown pass. Wide receiver Daurice Fountain not only caught the touchdown pass, but was also the most conspicuous of the Bears offense with 86 receiving yards.
New York Jets vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6:13
Without Aaron Rodgers, but with Zach Wilson (9/13, 70 yards) and Tim Boyle (13/24, 106 yards, 1 interception) the Jets also remained without a touchdown.
For the Bucs, in the absence of Baker Mayfield, Kyle Trask (20/28, 218 yards) threw for a touchdown.
John Wolford had to be carted off the field and taken to hospital with a neck injury. Bucs coach Todd Bowles gave the all-clear: After some initial numbness in his arm, Wolford could feel it again.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans 16:24
Kirk Cousins was given a day off from playing for his 35th birthday. His replacements Nick Mullens (13/23, 151 yards) and Jaren Hall (4/7) went without a touchdown, but also without an interception. The only Vikings touchdown was scored by rookie DeWayne McBride.
For the Titans, 22-year-old Julius Chestnut caught the eye with one receiving and one rushing touchdown and 98 rushing yards. The running back rotated between the practice squad and the stands last season.
Quarterback Malik Willis (10/17, 85 passing yards, 91 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception) impressed more as a runner than a thrower.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos 21:20
Brock Purdy cemented his role as the 49ers’ starting quarterback with a good short-yardage effort (4/5, 65 yards). Trey Lance (12/18, 173 yards) and Sam Darnold (11/14, 109 yards) each threw for a touchdown but also threw for an interception each and finished with a lower passer rating than Purdy.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys 22:14

Eight of nine pass attempts for 69 yards arrived, including a touchdown pass. Quarterback Daniel Jones showed why the franchise signed him to a $160 million contract in the offseason in an impressive cameo appearance in his New York Giants’ 21-19 (21-3) win over the Carolina Panthers.
Besides Jones, backup Tyrod Taylor (9/13, 90 yards) also managed a touchdown pass. Third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito (9/11, 88 yards) also finished with strong numbers.
For the Panthers, No. 1 pick Bryce Young struggled with his spotty O-line and shaky receivers, finishing with a throwing percentage of 50 percent (3/6) and 35 yards. He also had to take a sack.
Matt Corral (9/13, 71 yards) and Jake Luton (2/7, 41 yards, one touchdown pass) were also used at quarterback. For the Panthers it was the second loss in the second preseason game.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Cincinnati Bengals 13:13
The Cincinnati Bengals remained without a touchdown of their own for a long time in their second preseason game. Only in the final minute did running back Chase Brown redeem himself by rushing for a touchdown.
Without the injured quarterback Joe Burrow, the offense was harmless for the most part. His substitutes Trevor Siemian (7/14, 62 yards) and Jake Browning (16/22, 140 yards, 1 interception) were not much of a factor.
For the Falcons, first-round pick Bijan Robinson showed his class as a running back with four carries for 20 yards. The only touchdown for Atlanta came from Carlos Washington Jr.
Philadelphia Eagles v. Cleveland Browns 18:18
Already on Friday night, the Eagles and the Browns also split with a tie.
Marcus Mariota had a bad day for the Eagles in front of the watching Jalen Hurts: The quarterback completed nine of his 17 passes for 86 yards, was booed by his own fans after an interception and was sacked three times.
Things went better for Tanner McKee (10/18, 147 yards), who at least managed a touchdown.
For the Browns, who played without starter Deshaun Watson, his replacement Kellen Mond (12/24, 126 yards) threw the only touchdown.
The game was overshadowed by injuries to Eagles players Tyrie Cleveland (cervical spine), Moro Ojomo (cervical spine) and Josh Andrews (ankle).
