The Buffalo Bills are in the AFC Championship Game. In the Divisional Playoffs, Josh Allen and Co. knock out the Baltimore Ravens.
In the NFL Divisional Playoffs, the team of head coach Sean McDermott defeated the Baltimore Ravens 27-25 (21-10).
As in the 2020 season, the Bills will now play the Kansas City Chiefs for a spot in the Super Bowl.
Mark Andrews let the two-point conversion to possibly tie the game slip out of his hands a minute and a half before the end.
Josh Allen ran for two touchdowns in the duel of the MVP candidates against Lamar Jackson and, unlike the Ravens’ playmaker, did not throw an interception.
The Ravens got off to the better start. On the first drive, Jackson found Rashod Bateman from 16 yards in the end zone – 0:7. But the Bills struck back immediately: rookie running back Ray Davis ran the ball from one yard out to score.
And Buffalo kept the pressure on: first, safety Taylor Rapp intercepted a Jackson pass, then Damar Hamlin forced a fumble by the Ravens’ playmaker.
The Bills capitalized on the second turnover: Allen maneuvered the ball from the 1-yard line with a quarterback sneak into the end zone – 14:7.
After a field goal from Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, Allen ran for his second touchdown. The 21:10 was also the halftime score.
Ravens concede three turnovers
After the break, Tucker narrowed the gap from 47 yards out to 13:21. Then the best rushing offense in the NFL got going.
Justice Hill and Derrick Henry covered the field in no time at all, with the latter finding the end zone for the third time this postseason. The two-point conversion that followed failed, leaving the Bills with a narrow 21-19 lead.
Buffalo’s kicker Tyler Bass extended that to 24-19 from 51 yards at the start of the final quarter.
When the Ravens were about to take the lead, tight end Andrews made the big mistake: he let Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard knock the ball out of his arms after catching a pass. It was Baltimore’s third turnover of the game – and one too many.
Buffalo scored three points from the unexpected possession: Bass kicked from 21 yards out to make it 27-19.
The Ravens got within 25:27 after a touchdown pass from Jackson to Isaiah Likely – but then Andrews failed to make the tackle on the two-point conversion.
